Ever since I acquired the necessary motor skills, I've felt the undeniable need to write things down. A thought pops into my head, I put a pen to paper, and before I know it I've filled a notebook. Fueled with my runaway pen and a love of intelligent conversation, I obtained a BA in Literature and Writing Studies from Cal State San Marcos in 2008 and now find myself working as a freelance writer on Suite 101, among other things. I'm also a published author in poetry and short stories and have just completed my first novel.

Since obtaining my BA took me 11 years, I had to find a way to pay the bills during that time. I had a successful career as a licensed insurance agent and worked both as an office manager and in sales and marketing in that field. I gained a sound knowledge of how insurance and finances in general work and have found that knowledge useful in my writing career. I've put in some time doing corporate blogging about finance and household budgeting. I've also worked producing web content on the topic of health and fitness.

By far my most important and most enjoyable job is that of a wife and mother. Being a freelance writer comes along with the necessary perk of being able to work from home. This frees me up to spend the majority of my time with my hilarious little girl, who has taught me more in two years than any career or university ever could. I enjoy spending time with other moms, socializing and discussing what works best when dealing with ingenious toddlers.
